The lights are on, the seats are prepared, and now get ready for Season 7 of exciting and life-changing stories of heroism, inspiration, motivation, and even trauma when ‘The Alrick Show’ returns to the airwaves this week.
The show will expose the behind-the-scenes lives of some of the most influential, well-known, and daring persons in our midst, while also touching on topics that are not easily talked about, according to a release announcing the return of the show at 9:30pm on Thursday, March 2 on TVJ.
Topics like overcoming an abusive relationship or how young men cope after being sexually abused by well-known men in their communities can be expected.
“The Alrick Show aims to make you and your situation better, to engage viewers while helping them gain clarity on a variety of topics,” Alrick McKenzie, host and executive producer of the show said.
“Our aim is to help persons believe in themselves while teaching them how to cope with difficult situations so that they can step into their purpose and fulfil their destinies. No matter who we are there is always still room for improvement,” he said. “Sometimes people have thoughts of where they want to be but do not know where to begin and how to get there. But when they realise that others have made the journey along a similar path that will encourage them to push forward.”
The show, which over the years has won the hearts of almost 350,000 viewers 18 years and older, was last aired in December 2021. According to long-standing viewer Nicky Mills, the show not only helps you improve your life but brings diversity.
“I truly enjoy that Alrick interviews people from polar opposite backgrounds and different facets and walks of life... they are in no way similar or familiar with each other. That shows depth and range and humanity,” she said.
For Vernon Peterkin, another ardent viewer, The Alrick Show has been his inspiration.
“Often some of us believe we are alone in our situations, so a burden is lifted when we realise that others share similar experiences,” he said.
With its return, the show will again bring back wholesome family entertainment at its finest. This 30-minute infotainment segment will also delve into health, spirituality, sexuality, literature, and social issues that will be sure to inspire and empower.
McKenzie said like all the other television shows produced by Absolut Ventures Limited (shows like ‘Family Food Battle’, ‘Kids Talk – Anything and Everything’ and ‘The Love Zone’) The Alrick Show is family focused and can be enjoyed by every household in Jamaica and beyond.
“We are all about family,” McKenzie concluded.
